Project Description
Philips Medical Systems and the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Zambia have contracted MeduProf-S to train new users in Ultrasound between 2011 and 2014.
The programme started with a Train the Trainers course from June 27 – July 1.
Eight experienced Zambian sonographers were trained to become the local trainers for this 4-year programme.
The training for new users consisted of 2 modules of 2 weeks per year. Between the modules the participants to the new user modules had to work on their portfolio’s which included scanning the different abdominal organs and obstetric cases, taking pictures of these examinations and pasteing them into their portfolio’s.
The objective of module 1 was to train the users how to examine the normal abdominal organs, how to scan a pregnancy in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester and how to scan the male and female pelvis.
Module 2 was more advanced and the participants will be exposed to pathology of all organs , all possible foetal anomalies and small parts ultrasound. Both in theory and practise.
The 2 modules have been jointly taught by a MeduProf-S expert and the local team.
