Nursing expert Erik van Roon conducted the second module of the Accident and Emergency course in Winneba, Ghana

From 10 – 14 March 2014 MeduProf-S expert Erik van Roon conducted the second week Accident & Emergency course for nurses of the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba, Ghana.

The participants had a different background, according to their working environment; Accident & Emergency Ward, Paediatric Ward, the Male Ward, the Female Ward and Operating Theatre.

After a recap from the previous week new topics were introduced such as cardiovascular emergencies. Part of the assessment done in Circulation consists of recording an ECG. The participants practiced this and the next step was interpreting the rhythm. There were lectures in the conducting system of the heart and finally they learned how to evaluate a cardiac rhythm in a    systematic way.

The participants were very eager for learning and stated that they are looking forward to the next week of training! They really want to improve and deliver time-critical treatment for all of their patients.
