Train the Trainer course conducted on St. Maarten

From July 8th -12th Erik van Roon was on St Maarten to provide a train the trainer course especially for the White and Yellow Cross Foundation. They opened recently a rehabilitation ward where four patients can be admitted  and made a major stride forward.

This first rehabilitation centre in St. Maarten will cater to clients staying at the facility and those visiting from home for therapies. Clients can go through the rehabilitation process close to their families instead of staying on Curacao, a long way from home.

The topics for this train the trainer program were connected to the content of the cardio rehab program and a range of didactical skills. At the end of the week St Maarten had 4 new instructors Basic Life Support in combination with the use of an AED. WYC=Reha-TOT 2013.07.12

The four trainers brought their new obtained knowledge and skills into practice by training the nurses of the rehabilitation ward. The trainers are a Physical Therapist, an Occupational Therapist and two nurses (RN). They will act as co-teachers during the modules to follow  after this first successful week. Working this way  they will prepare themselves for their role to sustain skills and theory in the rehab team.
