Training program on Laboratory techniques delivered in Alexandria

From April 26 till April 30 two groups of Laboratory staff (17 people in total) were trained in the emergency hospital in Smouha, Alexandria.

Two experts delivered the training: mrs. Ans Arets and mrs. Ellen Hofstede. During 5 intensive days, the very motivated and capable Egyptian students were trained. This haematology training consisted of a practical and a theoretical course. These two courses were closely intertwined: the discussed theory was immediately put into practise in the laboratory, while the practical use of the available lab equipment and diagnostic tools was deeper discussed during the theory classes using hypothetical pathology cases as an example. Since the students were already in possession of a biochemistry diploma, the level of the theoretical course was very high, and the practical course could focus extra on trouble-shooting, costs and quality control.

The participants are now are able to use their knowledge in all different types of cases.
